Know the risk. Quantify the impact. Control the outcome.
One connected workspace for project status, risk, cost, schedule and claims. Move from spotting a risk, to pricing it, to choosing a response, with every input and decision on the record.
Inside Nexus: SCC workbook import and FTA cost-risk model · schedule risk and Monte Carlo · cost risk and contingency · risk register · claims and delay · executive view and reports.

How every number is calculated
| Cost variance | Forecast cost − approved budget (in $M as entered). Percent = variance ÷ budget. |
|---|---|
| Schedule slip | Forecast finish − baseline finish, in calendar days. Percent = slip ÷ baseline duration. |
| Earned value (optional) | Needs reported percent complete and actual cost. PV = time elapsed % × budget (simplified: straight-line baseline spend); EV = percent complete × budget; SPI = EV ÷ PV; CPI = EV ÷ actual cost; EAC = budget ÷ CPI. |
| Default ratings | Cost and schedule: green up to 2%, amber up to 5%, red above. SPI and CPI: green at 0.95 or higher, amber at 0.90 or higher, red below. These are management defaults, not an industry standard. Overall rating is the worst of the parts. |
| Testing | The calculation modules are covered by 165 automated tests (project metrics 27, risk register 20, cost simulation 33, schedule 32, P6 XER baseline and 20,000-activity import 6, Live model 8, Excel writer 3, FTA top-down 16, Excel reader and SCC import 7, annualized cost 7, SCC schedule 6). The FTA top-down model reproduces the lower and upper bounds, P40, P50, P65, P80 and mean of the FTA workbook to nine significant figures from that workbook's own inputs with independently worked answers (boundary, leap-year, missing-input and invalid-input cases). |
Built in phases, tested at each step.
A platform whose contingency number is wrong is worse than no platform. Each phase ships working features, tests and a list of limits before the next begins.
| Phase | Scope | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Resolve Nexus landing page, navigation, project command center with validated calculations and audit trail | Delivered |
| 2 | Risk register, 5 × 5 matrix, mitigation workflow, history of changes | Delivered |
| 3 | Cost-risk engine: distributions, correlation, Monte Carlo, percentiles, tornado, convergence; contingency and mitigation optimizer | Delivered |
| 4 | Schedule risk: CPM import and validation (P6-compatible), probabilistic completion | Delivered |
| 5 | SCC input table, FTA top-down beta range model built from the official FTA workbook, reconciliation with the bottom-up model | Delivered (single risk profile) |
| 6 | Integration of Claims Lab and Resolve Tower | Delivered |
| 7 | PDF and Excel reporting, secure sign-in and storage, accessibility audit, performance, production hardening | Delivered, except sign-in, shared storage and hardening that need a hosted back end |
Not in this release
- Shared storage and sign-in. This site is static. Projects live in your own browser, with no accounts, roles or shared data. Real authentication, project-level separation, backup and recovery need a hosted back end (Phase 7).
- Parts of FTA OP 40 not built. The top-down beta range method is implemented for one risk profile. Phased multiple risk profiles, import of FTA's Risk Workbook itself (the sponsor's SCC cost-estimate workbook can be imported), the PMOC schedule risk workflow and any FTA submission or approval are not included. This is not an FTA tool and states no compliance.
- Cost-loaded schedule. Planned value uses a straight-line baseline. The schedule model applies one calendar and does not apply constraints, resources or progress; the native P6 file stays the schedule of record.
What Resolve Nexus will and will not claim.
It will
- Show the formula, units, assumptions and data source behind every figure.
- Label each chart as entered, modeled or illustrative.
- Keep qualitative risk scores, expected monetary value, simulation results and official workbook results separate.
- Record changes so a result can be traced to its inputs.
It will not
- Claim FTA certification, approval or official OP-40 compliance. Only the official workbook outputs are official.
- Present invented examples as Vanguard Resolve project performance.
- Call a simple expected-value calculation a Monte Carlo simulation.
- Treat a risk forecast as proof of contract entitlement, causation or damages.
- Guarantee savings from a mitigation.
